Dancing on the Edge of the World

Yesterday, I was at Sutro Baths in San Francisco. I checked out the Land’s End Visitors Center, a treasure trove of temptation, especially books.

From How To Read Nature by Tristan Gooley:

Plants react to colors. For example, if we are dressed in blue we can change the way a plant grows, while if we wear red we will influence its timekeeping. The process by which plants grow toward light is called phototropism and is only influenced by blue light. Red light, on the other hand, influences photoperiodism, which governs the plant’s sensitivity to the time of year. The changes in a plant that result from our choice of clothing color may be imperceptible to us, but the knowledge that they are reacting can change the way we think about them.

Dancing!
Do rocks respond, though much more slowly than plants, to color too?

Simplicity

Usually I keep vases around the house filled with water and flowers, but lately I’ve kept one vase empty of flowers and partially filled with water.

A vase – water – space.

Connecting

Yesterday we took the Sausalito ferry to “the city” for one of the birthday celebrations for our three year old grandson.  Circus  Bella was a treat, a generous creation and abundance of love and fun, offered by donation.   Check it out:

Knitting Us Together

The Mill Valley Arts Commission (MVAC) has created a project of crocheted and knitted art that covers the trunks and some branches of downtown trees.

At the end of October, the squares of yarn will be taken down, washed and sewn together into blankets and donated where needed.

These are outside the Book Depot in the Square.

Sea Shanties

On Sunday, my grandson, his dad, and I are journeying to Angel Island. Realizing it is grandson’s first sea voyage, I thought I should check out some sea shanties, and came across Fisherman’s Friends. Enjoy!
